St. George's Anglican Church sits on the site of the Battle of Pukehinahina - Gate Pā;
one of the most significant events in the history of our city. The Battle of Gate Pa was fought on 29 April 1864 and the Battle of Te Runga on 21 June 1864 Each year we offer this event on 29 April to enable our community to commemorate this significant event and to reflect how it shapes our present.
