The annual sixty (60) bell service:
On the 29 April each year, St George's Anglican Parish of Gate Pā and the Tauranga Moana (Anglican) Maori Mission invite all those who wish to attend, to a short service at St. George's Gate Pā to commemorate the the Battle of Gate Pā and to honour all those who fought and died in this tragic event. It is a quiet dedicated Service that remembers all those who fought and died and tells what the battle was about. The bells are rung 60 times to remember those who died in the battle and a prominent speaker invited to share about the importance of the battle for Tauranga today. There is a shared afternoon tea after the service.
