Funerals
Part of our ministry here at St. George’s Gate Pā includes ministry to the dying and their family; helping families prepare for the funeral of a loved one; taking the funeral services including the committal, interment of ashes following cremation; and following the funeral, house blessings and bereavement ministry.
We are available to take a funeral service for anyone who wishes to make use of the services of a minister. The person does not have to be “Anglican” and does not have to be on a parish roll.
We offer the use of our facilities including church, lounge and kitchen at a cost effective rate.
When working with families we always seek to ensure that any needs a family may have are met. We seek to be as sensitive as possible to different cultures.
We also have a little booklet available for people to think about and make clear their wishes for the funeral and interment.
We encourage people to spend some time filling in this little booklet and sharing its contents with family. There are spaces for you to list your favourite hymns, songs and readings. Often family can get stuck on this one, yet want to reflect the person their loved one has been to them and to celebrate their life in ways that have real meaning.
